In this session, we discuss the role of GDPR compliance benchmarking in the US, EU, China and Japan in developing overall GDPR data protection risk strategies and key metrics in an array of industries. Panelists will present and analyze the results of a recent 2019 GDPR study, conducted by the Ponemon Institute and McDermott Will & Emery, addressing GDPR compliance efforts and common hurdles in these countries. The study, which included companies in China and Japan as well as the US and Europe, asked some 29,000 companies questions about applying GDPR rights to US employees, frequency of DPO/EU representative appointments, data security precautions, and breach reporting under the GDPR 72 hour requirement, as well whether companies were able to leverage their GDPR efforts to comply with the CCPA. Responses include average GDPR spend by company size and in what areas.
