Fiona Maclean, Tim Wybitul, Myria Saarinen

This session will explore a cluster of leading developments in EU data protection law within three countries: France, Germany, and the UK. We begin with the GDPR and cybersecurity incidents, and analyze how to avoid GDPR pitfalls in data breaches as well as the risks of subsequent claims and litigation. Other topics include GDPR fines and investigations as well as the privacy risks from Artificial Intelligence deployments. A final topic will be Schrems II and its implications for European and global businesses. The session will explore important privacy developments in these three countries, how their regulations can vary, and the practical steps to take in response to these sometimes different legal regimes.
