The CCPA is garnering the lion’s share of attention, but there have been other highly important developments at the state level. More than a dozen other states were considering comprehensive privacy legislation in 2019, with Nevada enacting an online privacy law in the mold of CCPA and other states likely to revisit privacy proposals in 2020. In addition, there were important developments in state data breach and data security law, including New York’s DFS Cybersecurity regulation. The session also discusses developments regarding biometric laws, facial recognition proposals, Internet of Things laws, important litigation trends, and other topics.
