The California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA) takes effect in January 2020, and a flood of resulting litigation is coming. This session sets out measures that companies should be taking now to reduce their risk under the CCPA. These steps include requiring encryption of information and having consumers enter into enforceable arbitration provisions. Other topics include responding to 30-day-notice letters and the measurement of damages. Finally, this session will look into the future and predict how and where these cases will first be litigated.
