New kids’ privacy laws seem to be sprouting everywhere, and they take a wide variety of approaches to protecting children online, from Age Appropriate Design Code Acts to laws limiting access to “harmful content” to App Store accountability mandates. But how do we know who’s a kid? This panel will examine various mechanisms for age assurance, estimation and verification, and consider whether these intended safeguards also create unintended privacy risks.
