Nancy Perkins, Cody Venzke
Session Time: Thur, Nov 5, 2026: 02:30 PM-03:30 PM
This panel will explore the rapidly expanding body of laws restricting the collection, use, and sharing of genetic, biometric, and location data – all deemed highly “sensitive” personal data. Questions to be addressed include:
- What policies underlie the different rules that are developing to govern processing each of these types of data?
- Where are existing state laws consistent in their approach and where do they diverge?
- Where is law enforcement being most aggressive, and why?
- What practices can organizations that need to process these types of data (health care providers, researchers, delivery services) do to minimize their legal risk?
