This presentation examines the myriad laws and regulations applicable to the processing of genetic data, including HIPAA, the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments of 1988 (CLIA), GDPR, state genetic privacy laws, and the U.S. Federal Policy for the Protection of Human Subjects (Common Rule). We will then discuss the compliance challenges of this complex set of requirements for genetics companies, and suggest practical solutions for addressing these challenges.
