Kelly Hagedorn, Julia Apostle, John Falzone,

In Europe, major steps have been taken to regulate the Internet, including the EU’s Digital Services Act and the UK Online Safety Bill. These and other legal developments call for new compliance models. This result exists for a broad variety of companies with an online presence—and not only the largest platforms. This session will discuss the emerging legal requirements to shelter users from illegal content, hate speech, violent content, and more. The session will also explore whether the United States is likely to follow these important European developments and replicate these laws.
