Genetic privacy is in the news with genealogical forensics and the sale of 23andMe. Meanwhile, privacy threat modeling (PTM) is emerging as a distinct privacy risk tool. We will describe a NIST NCCoE project that applied PTM to genomic data processing, discussing the approach – involving LINDDUN and MITRE PANOPTICâ„¢ plus NIST privacy resources – and its results to illustrate the value of PTM.
