In 2021, the United Kingdom’s Age Appropriate Design Code (“UK AADC”) introduced new rules for the processing of children’s data by online services “likely to be accessed” by children. The UK AADC inspired California to enact similar rules, and many other states across the U.S. are now considering similar proposals.
